The smooth, soft, red dunes of the Namib Desert are often hard to capture. Most especially on a rainy day such as this, where I struggled to capture the soft tones of the sand.

Driving across Namibia we came upon this rest point between Walvis Bay and Sossuvlei, where we stopped to get coffee. I couldn’t help but notice the old trucks parked out front, rusting away as days went by. A perfect representation of the harsh beauty of the desert.

Through the country’s incredible desert there is one animal which is always sought out. The African Oryx, also known as the Gemsbok, is one of the many prides of Namibia. Photographers and travelers come from all over the world to the desert in order to find this incredible animal, once believed to be a Unicorn because of the ‘single-horn’ appearance it creates when looking at it from the side.
